I think he is 90% of why this show is better than tim and eric.

On the topic of Adult Swim… King of the hill… seriously? Fuck you adult swim.

Long before this, the Fairhaven Hotel (where Mark Twain and Joe Dempsey stayed, among others) was gutted by fire. This was before I was born, but according to my late Dad, this was a time when everyone was thinking “Space Age,” and “New, new, new” – so they decided not to try to restore that ultra historical turn-of-the-century Victorian Monument, but knocked it down and put in a gas station, later followed by those train cars, and…I don’t even recall what is there, now.

Around this time, the original Roeder Home(which stood in the location of that “Lions” motel down on Elm Street) went up for sale, and it was bought by businessmen who wanted to put some commercial shit on the property. They were agreeable to having the house (Victorian style, elegant and containing exotic South American Hardwoods) moved, and the plan was to put it somewhere in the vicinity of Elizabeth Park. But the homeowner’s association at the time balked, thinking this venerable old building built by a founding father might “bring their property values down.”

So they razed it to the ground.

I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if owners of “less than desirable commercial properties” (whether historical or not) hereabouts, were in the habit of torching places with the blessing of somebody else in city govt.

I don’t know this to be the case…it simply would not surprise me if it were.

Other fun Bellingham stuff: In the 1970s, Georgia Pacific’s “aseptic bay” broke down and became “septic.” I remember the day it happened. I was riding in my old man’s truck with him through downtown, and I thought he’d shit his pants. But no….it was the city, itself, I smelled. After that, Bellingham stunk like a shithouse for a good long time. The Mukilteo mudflats, Everett Pew and Tacoma Aroma put together couldn’t compare.

Two days later…. FOOOP!

This show looks pretty crappy to me,I watched 10 mins of the pilot. It does beat the piss out of Tim and Eric… one thing I’m sure we’d all like to do.

But that’s like comparing horse shit to dog shit.

Put our fist in your mouth readers.

Due to who owned the buildings, and the quite thorough burning, difficulty in putting it out, and the descriptions in the herald I personally suspect this was an arson.

Couple that with the Earth Liberation Front graffit I have been seeing around town lately, and the suspicious character wearing green and a mask to cover his face I saw while I was down there taking photos I would bet money on this being ruled an arson later in time, and i’d throw another $1 wager that it was someone calling themselves E.L.F.

As much as I am for the environment, what kind of idiot would do them the favor of making the removal of the building so easy? it was slated for demolition anyway. Also, “terrorism” is not the answer… not that this seems to be an act of terror, but a misguided act of vandalism.

Then again, low-brow humor has never really not amused me.

There’s been COUNTLESS shows like this that I’ve heard all my friends talking about for years and i haven’t found any of them interesting, original, or funny at all.

I don’t know what this video makes me want to do. Not chicken though!

PHYSICAL KEYBOARD: this list presupposes that a physical keyboard is better than the one on the iPad. I haven’t used the iPad, but I don’t have problems with my iPhone keyboard.

WIDESCREEN: If it bothers you that much, you could cover part of the iPad’s 1024×768 screen to match the eee 1000’s 1024×600 display.

WEBCAM/FLASH SUPPORT: agreed that the iPad should have these. Wait a version or two. They’ve got to do a second round of sales somehow!

USB, ETC: it’s my understanding that you can use an attachment to add this functionality. Which would add card reader capabilities. A workaround, and silly not to include, but I don’t remember the last time I wished I had a card reader.

MULTITASKING: The iPad actually DOES have multitasking, just not of apps in the same class as each other. So you can’t run iTunes and another music-playing app at the same time. Whatever. Why would the target user of this product ever need to do that?

OPEN PLATFORM: Eh. I’m not going to develop a product for this and hack it in there. I’m happy to have some quality control inserted into the wild west of computer applications.

I’m not necessarily defending this thing because it’s an Apple product (maybe a little), but mostly because the checklist is unfair and misleading.

Of COURSE none of us have a reason to buy one of these. We’re hardkore nerds! The iPad is made for my mom and dad, who could actually relate to using something like this to read their email, surf the web and look at pictures of the grandkids.

They hate the idea of a phone doing all of that because it’s tiny and they can’t see it. They hate the idea of having to sit down at a desk and use a computer that requires a knowledge base far beyond what they possess, and this thing appeals to them.

Although I don’t have much use for something like this, after watching the hype video from Apple, I sure wanted a reason to own one!

I may just have nightmares about it.

Did you watch the actual show or just the trailer? This is way funnier to me than the Tim and Eric show, which is, at best, uncomfortable.
